About Soraya
As Head of International, Soraya Bekkali leads International commercial operations and manages the regional functions at the International Headquarters based in Zurich, Switzerland. Before joining Alexion in 2021, Soraya spent five years in biotechs where she was Venture partner with SV-Health Investors, a global Venture Capital firm, and CEO and Director of the Board of Cellinta and of Gyroscope Therapeutics. Her extensive experience encompasses orphan drug development while at Orphan Europe and Lysogene, and broad industry expertise while at Sanofi, where she held increasing leadership positions over a 10-year period.
Soraya was named one of the UK’s top 25 female leaders in healthcare and a “gene therapy pioneer” in 2019. Soraya obtained her medical degree from the University of Paris VII, specializing in clinical research, pharmacology, and biostatistics.
